Neck Relief

With the Low E string pressed down at the last and first frets (use a capo to press the string down at the first fret and your right hand index finger for the last fret) the gap between the bottom of the string and top of the 8th fret should be .010".

You can adjust this for less gap or more depending on your playing style and how hard you hit the strings. Use the small chrome adjustment bar that came with your guitar to adjust the spoke wheel (tighten for less relief, loosen for more relief)

Action

Once the neck relief is set, the action is set by measuring at the 15th fret, the distance from the bottom of the string to the top of the fret should be:
Low E 1.8 - 2.0 mm
High E 1.6 - 1.8mm

Again, these are a good starting point, you may prefer lower or higher action depending on your individual playing style.

Pickup Height

These are our general guidelines. With the E strings pressed at the last fret, measure the distance from the bottom of the string to top of the pickup.
Neck pickup: 3 mm
Bridge pickup: 2.0 - 2.5 mm

The neck pickup should always be lower than the bridge pickup in height, for better balance in volume & tone.

Again, these are general guidelines and you should use these as a starting point. If you have a middle pickup, set that height same as the neck pickup.

Neck Relief

With the Low E string pressed down at the last and first frets (use a capo to press the string down at the first fret and your right hand index finger for the last fret) the gap between the bottom of the string and top of the 8th fret should be .012" - .018".

You can adjust this for less gap or more depending on your playing style and how hard you hit the strings. Use the small chrome adjustment bar that came with your bass to adjust the spoke wheel (tighten for less relief, loosen for more relief)

Action

Once the neck relief is set, The string action is set by measuring at the 15th fret, the distance from the bottom of the string to the top of the fret should be:
Low E = 2.2mm - 2.8mm
G string = 2.0m - 2.5mm

Again a lot depends on your playing style and string gauge.

Pickup Height

Measured with the string pressed at the last fret, the distance from the bottom of the string to the top of the pole piece should be:
Low E = 4 mm
G string = 3mm

Again, you may adjust closer to further apart depending on the tone desired. We find that having the pickups further away makes for a more dynamic tone.
